8 PRK Certification

A basic step necessary to initiate the procedure leading up to a Ph.D. degree in Physics at NCBJ is obtaining a certificate confirming that you fulfil the requirements of the 8th grade of the Polish Qualifications Framework. This certificate is issued by the Graduate School.

Students of the Graduate School obtain this certificate upon completing the Program.

If you are pursuing a Ph.D. at NCBJ without going through the Graduate School you need to:

  1. Fulfil the requirements of block 1 of the Program;
  2. Either fulfil the requirements of blocks 2-5, or provide documentary evidence confirming that you have obtained equivalent expertise by other means (e.g. by taking specialised courses, seminars, career development training etc organised elsewhere).
  3. Obtain a positive assessment by a committee named by the Graduate School.

You should think about point 1 as early as possible, since for most people this requires some time and effort. Point 2 is easier to fulfil, but you should keep it in mind and discuss with your supervisor how to best do it. Point 3 is probably a formality as long as points 1 and 2 are solid.

Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
